Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 8, 2026
Wordnest is built so that your word collection remains stored on your device instead of in a Wordnest account. This policy explains the narrow, optional features that process selected text.
The short version
Your saved vocabulary, learning progress, and Wren writing stay on your device. There are no Wordnest accounts, no ads, and no behavioral tracking. Purchases are processed by Apple and entitlement status is handled by RevenueCat. A word-correction report leaves the device only when you deliberately submit it, as described below.
What data Wordnest handles
Wordnest stores the words you keep, review history, streak data, settings, and the profile name you enter. This data lives:
- On your device, in the app's local storage and shared app container used by Wordnest, its Share extension, and its widgets.
Wordnest does not currently sync your word collection between devices. We run no servers that store your collection.
Wren writing and vocabulary help
Wren uses Apple's Foundation Models framework on eligible devices. Meaning checks, sentence feedback, and writing conversations are processed on your device. Wordnest does not send Wren writing, conversation text, selected words, meanings, examples, your profile name, review history, streak, or collection to Wordnest or a third-party model provider.
- On-device only in version 1.0: Wren does not use a Wordnest model server or an external model provider.
- No transcript database: the conversation shown in the app is discarded when you close it and is not written to a Wordnest database.
- Your choice: Wren is optional. Saved words, ordinary review, pronunciation, and export continue to work when Apple Intelligence is unavailable or turned off.
Service infrastructure and abuse prevention
The optional correction endpoints run on Vercel, which necessarily processes report content and technical connection data to execute and protect that function. The correction flow uses Upstash Redis for the encrypted 30-minute pending record and short-lived abuse-prevention counters. Counter keys use a one-way keyed hash, so raw email addresses and connection addresses are not used as counter names. Read Vercel's privacy policy and Upstash's privacy policy.
Optional word-correction reports
Meanings, examples, pronunciation, and other word information may occasionally be incomplete or incorrect. If you choose Report an issue, Wordnest sends the following to our correction service: the word and information you were shown, the problem and optional correction you write, app and iOS version, locale, and the email address you provide.
- Email verification: we first send a private, 30-minute verification link. Your report is forwarded to us only after you open that link and tap Confirm, which proves the address can receive mail. Automated email-link previews cannot submit the report.
- Short-lived encrypted quarantine: report content is encrypted and kept in a restricted pending store for no more than 30 minutes. The email contains only a random opaque link. After verification, the report is delivered to our support inbox so we can investigate and reply, and the pending copy is deleted.
- Confirmed-report retention: we delete the verified report and reply address from our support inbox after the issue is investigated and any reply is complete, and no later than 12 months after submission. Each delivered report includes its deletion deadline.
- Email processor: verification and report emails are delivered by Resend. Resend necessarily processes the recipient and sender addresses, message content, and delivery metadata to provide that service. Read Resend's privacy policy.
- Your choice: reporting is optional. You can keep using Wordnest without providing an email address or sending a report.
No accounts, no tracking
- Wordnest has no sign-up and no user accounts. We do not upload or store your full word collection or Wren writing. Optional correction-report data is sent only when you deliberately use that feature.
- There is no advertising and no advertising SDK in the app.
- There is no behavioral analytics or cross-app tracking. We do not profile your reading or vocabulary, and we do not share data with data brokers.
Purchases and subscriptions
Wordnest Pro is sold as an in-app purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Apple through your App Store account; we never see your payment details.
To manage subscriptions (validating receipts, knowing whether your device is entitled to Pro, handling restores, and showing purchase and revenue analytics in the developer dashboard), Wordnest uses RevenueCat as a processor. RevenueCat receives App Store purchase history and receipt information, a random Wordnest purchase-support identifier, and limited service data such as device type, operating system, app version, and when the app last contacted the purchase service. The random identifier is stored in your iCloud Keychain so purchase access can remain stable after reinstalling or moving to another device signed into the same Apple Account. It is not connected to your email, profile name, or Apple Account credentials, and RevenueCat does not receive your words. You can read RevenueCat's privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
Your control over your data
- Export: you can export your full word collection anytime from Settings in the app.
- Delete: deleting the app removes its local word collection and learning data. The random purchase-support identifier may remain in your iCloud Keychain so prior purchases can be restored. Because Wordnest does not sync your collection, export it first if you want a copy for another device.
- Correction reports: reply to the verification or support email, or contact us below, if you want a confirmed report removed before its normal deletion deadline.
Children
Wordnest does not ask users to create an account or send us their profile name, full word collection, or Wren writing. The purchase-service data described above may be processed when Wordnest checks available products or Pro access, and when someone makes or restores a purchase. An optional correction report and verified reply address is processed only when someone chooses to use that feature. Parents or guardians with questions can contact us at the address below.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how Wordnest handles data, we will update this page and the effective date above. Because the app is designed around not collecting data, we expect changes to be rare.
